PHYSICAL EDUCATION AT CMS

Michael Kullack - Lead Teacher

Students at each grade level are offered a wide variety of experiences designed to explore the world of physical activity as it relates to a healthy life style. Educating for character and building self-esteem are major themes in our program.

Grading Policy

All students are graded according to their own ability level. Each student is assessed on how much knowledge s/he acquires and how much improvement s/he shows in the context of the individual's own ability level. Grades are formulated in the following manner:

  • 60% Participation
  • 30% Preparation
  • 10% Test

New York State Assessment Standards

Our curriculum is designed to address all three of our NYS Standards.

  1. Personal Health and Fitness: Students will have the knowledge and skills necessary to establish and maintain fitness, participate in physical activity and maintain personal health.

  2. A Safe and Healthy Environment: Students will acquire the knowledge and skill necessary to create and maintain a safe and healthy environment.

  3. Resource Management: Students will understand and be able to manage their personal and community resources.
