Bee Club Winterizes Apiary
The CMS Bee Club, under the direction of science teacher Katherine Lumberto, donned their protective bee suits and winterized their hives at Marion Carll Farm on Thursday afternoon.
After using a smoker to calm the bees, the students placed a sugary drip in each hive for the bees to consume throughout the winter months. The students then wrapped the hive to help moderate the temperature.
When the students return in the spring, they expect to see a healthy number of bees in each hive, eager for activity.
