Ex-Isles Exec Visits CMS Students
CMS sports management students were treated to a special guest speaker on Wednesday morning.
Former New York Islanders senior vice president Paul Lancey discussed the business end of a professional sports team with the students.
Lancey told the students about the launch of the Islanders’ mascot, which involved surveying fans before naming him Sparky as well as soliciting sponsors.
He also entertained questions from the middle school students, who probed him about topics including why concession prices are set high and how to get internships.
This is the first school year that sports management is being offered as an enrichment course at CMS. The classes are taught by Jason Fluger and Donna Sita.
